Having established in 2009, the department of pharmaceutical analysis, affiliated to Osmania University, offers a specialisation in Pharmaceutical Analysis as part of its Masters in Pharmacy program. It started with an annual intake of 15 members and the duration of the program spreads over a period of 2 years. The program is divided into 4 semesters, of which the final 2 semesters are focussed on research orientation. As part of this process, all students are expected to develop new analytical techniques, which would in turn, help them adapt to an industrial environment.
This esteemed department, similar to all the other departments in the institution, is provided with the most up to date laboratories, cutting-edge facilities, and faculty which is highly qualified and experienced in research. Once a student passes out of institution, he or she has a plethora of career options to choose from. Apart from being hired as a scientist or an academician, he or she can also be employed as a research associate in the analytical and regulatory department in research labs worldwide.
Further, students also can be chemists or analysts in the Quality Assurance departments apart from being a market research analyst with any life sciences firms. The department of pharmaceutical analysis currently has its focus on key research areas such as development of analytical and bio-analytical methods. It consists of validation and application of analytical Quality by Design (QBD) and also comprises of development and validation of bio-relevant dissolution media and Chemometrics.
We pride on the facts that, since inception, 176 students have successfully passed out of our esteemed institution. As part of our campus placement drives, these students turned professionals have been hired by well-established and eminent pharmaceutical firms both in the country and abroad. Research is one of the key areas of the department, which is evident in a sizeable number of research publications in peer-reviewed journals worldwide. We would like to highlight the fact that until now, more than 100 research papers have been published in national and international peer-reviewed journals. The department is honoured to comprise of 5 highly qualified and proficient faculty members with several years of research experience and 30 Postgraduate students. It is also noteworthy that both the faculty members and the postgraduate students from this department have graced several National and International conferences with their research publications and presentations on paper as well as poster.
